The Professional Unification of Martial Arts (P.U.M.A.) acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of all students and adults especially those who are most vulnerable / impressionable. (Children and Adults at Risk) We are fully committed to ensuring our safeguarding practice recognises and reflects our statutory responsibilities and government guidance and that it complies with best practice.
We take our responsibilities for the safeguarding of all our students very seriously. As such, New Horizons Martial Arts is signed up to the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts, a scheme that recognises clubs or providers in England who have demonstrated that they have reached and maintained good safeguarding standards.
As a member of the Professional Unification of Martial Arts, we are also required to attend regular Safeguarding training and must have an up-to-date DBS check document - copies of these can be viewed on request to the instructor.
PUMA has a dedicated Safeguarding team and a comprehensive Safeguarding Code of Practice to which all instructors must adhere.

PUMA has a dedicated safeguarding team who are available for advice and support. This team ensures that the wellbeing of all our students is paramount and that all instructors and school owners are aware of their responsibilities
The PUMA Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL) is Ms Louise Reeve, 4th Degree Black Belt, Taekwon-do instructor and school owner. She is a Level 3 Safeguarding trainer and should be the primary contact for all safeguarding queries relating to PUMA schools, instructors and students.
